The Stork’s Nest

by Flensted Form

As many other aspects of the beginning of life, our adventure also began with a stork. In our case, a stork that arrived in the shape of a mobile, made in the occasion of the baptism of Christian and Grethe's second child, Mette Flensted. "The Storks's Nest" (Storkereden in Danish), was a charming half-timbered house, that Christian and Grethe fell in love with. They moved in in 1956 and this was the first place that Christian was able to have his own art studio and it would also be the first place where the Flensted Family would establish a proper stock of mobiles, because the business was thriving; a special commission of 50.000 Scandinavian Swans to Shell in Holland. They lived here for approximately 10 years before moving forward, and they would actually move 4 times more, before ending settling down in 1972 at Frederiksminde, still the epicentre of Flensted Mobiles today.
