As Grethe and Christian Flensted returned from their honeymoon in the United States, they considered what project to start to sustain their growing family. Rumours say that they thought about starting the first soft-ice company in Denmark, as this concept had not yet reached their native country. Christian started delving deeper into the old Danish tradition of making straw-mobiles to hang over a child's cradle; a tradition meant to chase off bad spirits from the baby. And so, in 1953, in the occasion of the baptism of his second child, Mette Flensted, Christian Flensted made his first mobile with two pieces of straw, some thread, and three paper storks; and Danish Lucky Storks, mobile nr. 001 in Flensted Mobiles, is still to this day a bestseller in the family company. As Ole Flensted took over the reigns in 1982 and found his partner in all aspects of life, Aase, the company grew as it was digitized and the Flensted couple enforced sales efforts through international fairs. Flensted Mobiles remains to this day a family company, as Ole and Aase Flensted has handed over the reigns to the third generation, as they have now begun their new chapter in Flensted Form as independent artists.
