In June 1972, the Flensted Family decided on moving to something bigger. From the birth of Christian and Grethe's first child, Ole, the family had moved 8 times - and at Frederiksminde they found something special. So on June 11 in 1972 they moved in - or at least young Ole did, he could wait and spent his first night at the old school all by himself. Frederiksminde was an old school with many rooms - space for a lot of exciting projects and lots of mobiles. There are many notebooks in the Flensted Family with ideas for all the projects that would be possible now at Frederiksminde. However, moving into an old school was not the smallest of projects. In 1973-1974 the oil crisis hit and oil prices rose from DKK 0,50 per liter to DKK 2,5 per liter over very little time. The old school was big, and heating it up was suddenly much more expensive than expected and something had to be done. On top of that, the United States of America was the biggest market of Flensted Mobiles at the time and the USD was devalued with 20%. The family pulled up their sleeves and made it through - many initiatives to keep the company rolling were started, including making a wonderful shop at Frederiksminde. The shop became a success - and with its many high-quality products it led families from all over Denmark to visit and support the cause.
